Which hammer should I buy 24oz or 28oz?
I have been working as a carpenter and I have owned a 20 oz Stanly hammer but right now I am looking for a 24~28oz for doing framing work and sinking 3&half inch nails and denailng.
I've borrowed 24oz Stanly hammer anti vibe from my co workers but I felt I could go a little heavier.
I mean I don't use hammer all day for we have nail guns and only swing hammer probably less than 100 depends on what we're doing.
I do both framing and finishing work, so I can use the old 20oz for finishing work and 22oz isn't much different from 20 so isn't an option.
I've heard a lot of people saying Estwing is better than Stanly but I think I'm going with Anti vibe Stanly with nail starter.
Let me know you're opinion especially people from this trade.
Thank you
I'm a carpenter and I use a Estwing 20 and I also do both framing and finishing work, as you said (I don't use hammer all day for we have nail guns and only swing hammer probably less than 100 depends on what we're doing) to me 28oz seem a bit heavy but I'm not a big man,
Personally I wouldn't buy another hammer unless I wasn't using a nail gun even though the 20oz is light on for framing, I can see the need for a heavier hammer from time to time, but also see the need for a specific tool in many other instances, but because there's only so many tools a person can haul around where do you stop? If I were going to buy another hammer for me it would be a 24oz.
