(advice) what do you think about hand building a cat tower?
proud owner of a healthy young cat that has too much time on her hands.
i have one wall that is pretty bare. i hate bare walls. so i wanted to give him something real cool, he's young, crazy and needs a jungle gym to play on. the cat towers i see at the pet store are uninspired and look kinda plain. so i wanted to build one myself, and really go to town with fake vines, and wax leaves, dangly toys, bells, and hiding places, as well as some practical storage for his kitty litter and food, and stuff. i want to be able to disassemble it too. i also dont want it to be an eye sore after about a month. the whole room will be tricked out in this jungle/asain/indian ruin feel to it.
the problem is i have never been allowed to play with powertools. supplies: nails, hammers, wood, carpet, floral, cat toys, pins, super glue, staple gun, heavy duty staples, scrap furniture, paint......
Where can i go to get some cool ideas and some advice?
Any advice?
Is this a good idea?
Suggestions?
I think you need to consider safety for the cat before starting.
No exposed nails. No plastic vines he can chew and choke on.
No super glue that may be toxic. No hanging bits of rope that he could hang himself with.
I would say there's more planning involved than you might think.
