Do It Your Self Question: Adding Pull Bar To Cement Ceiling?
I need help from all the handy men, or ingenuitive do it yourselfers.
I own a loft condo, and there are 14 feet ceilings. The ceilings are 100 yearold cement. I purchased these Hang Ups Spyder Gravity Boots (link for picture below) to do my 180 degree sit ups. The set up the kit comes with is way to flimsy, especially when I'm holding weights. I don't mind drilling into the ceiling and putting some heavy duty pipes to create a pull up bar in the ceiling.
What kind of pipe, design, process, etc etc would you recommend to get this secure in there. Any help is appreciated. I have a great hammer drill, but I dont know if it will be strong enough for a large drill bit. Its the best one rigid sells.
Let me know, thanks again!

I would suggest a length of 3/4 inch galvanized pipe the length you want the bar to be. Buy it threaded on both ends. Buy a 90 degree nipple for each end and then a threaded flange for each end. The flange can be bolted to the ceiling with concrete anchors which will provide a platform that will hold as much weight as the concrete ceiling can support.
Your hammer drill should be more than enough for the job.
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PROJECT!!!
