Black & Decker 14.4v vs Ryobi 18v?

Hello, for fathers day I got a Black and Decker 14.4v kit with 129 pieces (ranging from stub finger, drill bits ratchet set, hammer, etc.). I also received a Ryobi 18v Drill and Reciprocating Saw Kit (just those two items).

My question is would the Ryobi 18v drill be better than the Black and Decker drill. I would be mainly drilling with a masonry bit (around my house) and I'm very curious which set I should keep.

I know the Black and Decker comes with everything but most of that stuff I would probably never use. So I wonder which one I should keep and which one I should have returned back to the store.

Thanks for any help.

Ryobi is a more durable brand than B&D, IMO. For use in masonry or concrete, try to find a roto hammer, not a hammer drill, the difference is enough that a dozen holes can be drilled in 1/2 hour vs 2-3 hours and less frustration. I would keep both sets of tools, after all they were gifts and were given from the heart. Try a pawn shop, C list and the want ads for the roto hammer. Go shopping at the big box stores and learn about them. Most home owners would only need a small unit and except for a major project would never use one enough to wear one out.

Thanks for looking at our 14 4v Hammer information.
