Makita 18 volt drills- on the BDF452HW what does the HW stand for.?
New cordless drill buyer and have decided on Makita. However somewhat confused, looking at 18 volt cordless. What is the BDF452 and the BDF452HW. They also have the BHP and I think that is for hammer/drill and what is the advantage of buying the hammer drill.
As for the batteries I think the charger for most Makita drills is the DC18RA and will charge all slide on type batteries. I also think any slide on battery will work on any drill/saw etc with the only difference being the strength of the battery being BL1815, BL1830, another words I think I can use any slide on type battery with any tool that takes slide on type including circular saws and recipro saws. Thanks for any help
I'm not sure what exactly the HW means. But I do know the differences between the BDF452 and the BDF452HW. Power wise, they are exactly the same. The HW version has special circuitry that allows it to fully charge in 15 minutes. The base model charges in 30 minutes. The HW version is around 75% of the weight of the base. The "Z" version is just the drill (no battery).
(and yes, the BHP is the hammer drill version)
