What are some hardwoods i can use for a shortstaff?
im in kung fu and we use shortstaffs (sticks) mine is 36 inches long,about 1 inch in diameter, and its made out of hickory....whenever i am banging sticks together with someone else, it leaves an identation in my stick..im not sure what they use at the dojo,but its alot harder than mine.....i think i need oak or something...can u help me out?
Iron wood. Mostly used in boatbuildng. It's a heavy wood but will really fit your needs. May have to talk to a couple wooden boatbuilders before you find where you can get some or look in the back of Wooden Boat mag for a phone #.
Teak is never called iron wood. Purple heart is good and easy to find. Green heart is great but very hard to work.
