How to choose from different numbers?
Hi,
suppose we have a list of goods to buy:
Rs
ITEM 114
2 18
3 93
4 23
5 5
6 57
7 680
8 54
9 78
10 42
11 18
Total 1082 Rs
But we have only 1 000 Rs
So, which items we may choose to fit the 1 000 Rs
Is there any mathematics formula to apply
Thanking you
Don't know of any formula, so it's trial and error. To make it easier, you already
have the total of 1082, and you only need 1000, so it's only necessary to find
which numbers total 82 and subtract them.
Start with the largest numbers.
You can immediately eliminate 93 and 680 as they are too large.
Then eliminate 78, because there is no 4 to add onto it.
Likewise, 57, as the difference of 25 cannot be made.
Now try 54. Difference we need is 28, which can be made with 23 and 5.
So choose all the items except item 4 (= 23), item 5 (= 5) and item 8 (= 54).
