Pelosi calls for emergency aid for auto industry? Where does the handout end?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081111/ap_on_go_co/auto_bailout;_ylt=AhrEH8IQ9njyBi6j8CocqP6s0NUE
Maybe if the auto industry gave the jobs to Americans, Americans could afford to buy their cars?
Has the auto industry created their own problem by setting up their factories in foreign countries? Why should America's citizens be stuck bailing everyone out for taking their "business" elsewhere?
Was the bill passed to allow everyone and their uncle to place a claim to the $700 billion to bail the banks out?
It's like a gold rush to the money that was supposed to improve the economy by helping the bankers - wasn't it? Is the bill open ended for anyone who wants a piece of the pie?
My question comes directly from the news clip that I supplied the link to. Unless you bother to look at the link, don't accuse me.
The Big Three simply need to die and be replaced by better market entrants. What about all of the auto workers in the U.S. who work for Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Mercedes and Nissan? Are they chopped liver? Is it government's job to prop up their competitors?
This is more nonsense that government "saves" jobs. Any jobs "saved" at the big three are lost or not created at their competitors. Same thing with nonsense like steel tariffs to "protect" U.S. steel companies from cheaper foreign steel. A politician or a leftist will tell you that steelworker's job is "saved"! But what about steel consuming industries? Their costs go up, they are hurt, and jobs there are lost or not created.
Be careful what you wish for.
