help with my batting?
i am 14 and i am 145 pounds and 5'7 i am 14 years old and i am the 4th batter on my team. i am pretty much a contact hitter but i am suppose to hit for power. i do have muscle but i dont hit bombs like i have to i just get on base with singles. i recently had bat speed problems( i had a super slow swing) so i started to use a -8 bat 32/24 oz and i was still just hitting for contact but a short while ago i started to hit little grounders. so i chose to test out my other bat it is 32/28oz i hit a hard single in the hole. well know i need to hit more line drives so i can hit doubles triple and home runs.i believe i got lots of power but i am not hitting the ball correctly. so i need to know the mechanics for batting that i need to hit long shots. i need every thing from load to the time i make contact. and should i keep my grip on the bat after i hit like prince fielder. i also need a batting stance that will add to my power.
Sounds like you are concentrating more on your batspeed. If you are the fourth batter then that is awesome. I hit 23 NCAA homeruns and I always batted in the number 2 or 8 spots just to get people in or get on base. You need to control how you shift your weight. The power in your hips and bat extension will ultimately determine if you hit the long ball. Try to keep your weight back on your back leg, and not shift your weight forward. Put a long band around your waist and have someone pull on it as you swing so that your weight is kept back. You should see somewhat of a difference.
