I got a used basketball backboard but handling it made my hands and ams itchy. Is it safe? Can it be sealed?
I assume that sun and rain have degraded the fiberglass surface and it is now shedding tiny shards. I do not want my son showered with these fiberglass bits each time the ball hits the backboard. I don't want anyone inhaling them or getting them on their skin, hair, clothes, etc. I'm wondering whether some kind of liquid acrylic sealant could be sprayed or brushed onto the surface of the backboard. Or should it be discarded?
yup, clear spray ppaint would do the trick, the only thing is DO NOT handle the board with out protection, I only got a bit of fiberglass in my eye, and costed me about 5k to get rid of it. make sure you have a mask, goggles, gloves and have cover all your body surfaces.
