can a 2003 malibu 3.1l engine be swap into a 2001 malibu?
I blew my engine on sunday and me and a friend tried to see what we could do and my lower intake gaskets were shot. We drained the oil which came out looking like chocolate milk. We took off the valve covers and everything was covered with the coolant oil mixture and we cleaned it and replaced gaskets and seals and put it back together. we started the car and it ran rough for 30 seconds then we heard a loub banging sound from where the number 1 spark plug was and we pulled it and it looked like someone took a hammer to it. We used another plug and it did the same thing. suggestions?
Hey im pretty sure you can put an 03 engine in an 01. The new engines started coming out in 04, so i think you could do the swap. you may need to buy some parts, but not sure as im not a mechanic. Always loved the malibus. i got an 01 2.4 liter. well good luck and i hope you get it runnin again.
