Speeding trouble, accelerator?, emergency brake? 1999 Mustang?
A few weeks ago, my girlfriends and I went on a all girl's night out, we went to the bowling alley, and I had to put my e-brake on because it was a slope. When we got out of the bowling alley, I started the car and forgot to take off the e-brake. I didn't realize that I had the e-brake on until five minutes later after going up a hill and pressing the accelerator to go faster. When I stopped I was freaking out. I don't normally forget about the e-brake, so I always panic when I do this. Well, now it's been three weeks after it happened and now my car is having trouble going up hill it seems, I have to almost hammer the accelerator in order to get up hill. I don't know if it's just me over exagerating or if it's a real problem. HELP!!!!!! My car's a 1999 Mustang with a V6 engine.
Driving with the emergency brake on put a lot of strain on the transmission. Pull out the dip stick and look at the fluid color. It should be red, if it's brown, smell it, if it has a burnt smell, you burned the clutches in the transmission and it is slipping.. If the fluid checks ok, hopefully, then the torque converter is damaged. The converter is bolted on the flywheel of the engine and drives the transmission. If you should need another transmission, stay the hell away from Amoco, they will rip you off. Cottman is a good re builder. I know most women doesn't know much if anything about cars, that's why I went to length to explain. Good look young lady and I hope you find my info help full.
