Why don't curling teams keep the hammer the whole game?
If you get the first hammer, what keeps you from drawing every end until the 10th end, then scoring a point or two (which is easier since you have the hammer)? Or once you get the hammer, what keeps you from drawing intentionally to keep the hammer and making your move during the last end? Just trade their stone for yours consistently, knocking your own out the whole time.
There are rules that state you must have the first rocks in play. That makes it difficult to play the hit and peel.
