The head of a hammer is loose and I want to tighten it by banging it against the top of a workbench. But..?
But why is it better to hold the hammer with the handle down rather than with the head down?
The head is heavery than the handle. So by banging it handle down, the handle stops but the weight of the head wants to keep going, as a result it tightens itself. The other way round isn't so good as you are stopping the heaviest part 1st and are expecting the lighter handle to be able to delievery the same force as the head....it doesn't happen.
Also, if the handle goes right through the head and comes slightly out of the top, then by banging it head down, you will losen it
