can anyone suggest a hair trimmer/cutter that leave my hair length at one inch or longer? no too short?
I use electric Oster clippers. It's the thing you see barbers use to shave the back of people's necks. The thing is, you have to go to a beauty supply store to buy a much larger guard to go on it than the ones it comes with. You should get the 1 inch guard and the 1 1/4 inch guard to go on it. You'll be able to do it yourself by bending over the bathtub and rubbing the clippers back and forth every which way over your scalp, but as far as getting your hair even in back along the neckline, you should ask someone to use scissors to cut it straight for you. Even if you don't, I like mine just fine the way it is without help.
Oh- one other thing! Wahl, Sunbeam, Oster -- all of them make their own brand of clippers. None of their guards will fit any other manufacturer's product. I learned this the hard way, and I doubt any Sally's Beauty Supply will take back used clipper guards, so make sure you buy the right brand to go with your clipper.
Another thing -- use the 1 1/4 inch guard first to see if it's short enough. I'm almost certain it will be just fine, but if you don't like it because you prefer it just a little bit shorter, you will have the 1 inch guard handy.
I haven't gone to a barber in about two years and whenever I trim it myself, I get compliments on my haircut.
