Teen looking to slim down some...Help!?
I'm 16, and I used to be able to eat anything and keep a twig-like figure. Now I've watched myself get bigger, not totally though. I'm 5' 6'' and weigh about 130 lb. I have flabby abs and the beginings of love handles!!! I also have large thighs and my butt is getting big. I do lunges daily as well as some sit-ups, but the sit-ups hurt my back badly, and I can't do more than 15 without a lot of pain.
I know I don't have a lot to lose, but my friends and family are starting to tell me I've been gaining weight, and I am starting to get really worried about my figure because even my best friends are telling me I'm getting big! Help with exercises or any ways to cut out calories. I don't drink soda unless I'm going out to eat, and that's like once every other week.
One great exercise for abs that doesn't seem to do a lot but actually does is as followed; at my school and throughout sports teams they are known infamously as planks. They are very simple to do, just lay on the floor on your stomach and prop yourself up with your elbows. Then move the rest of your body as if you were going to do a push up. Hold up your body with only your toes and forearms touching the ground and keep your back and butt straight so that your body is one straight line. Hold there for about 30 seconds, relax and then go back up and hold for another 15, do 3 of these a day and gradually increase the time over the next couple weeks. It may or may not feel like much but you will definately feel the burn.
Also I would suggest talking to your doctor if you have been taking any different medications or have changed your diet or if you haven't done anything different because sudden changes in metabolism can be a precurser to more severe problems.
