What marimba mallets should I get?
Yesterday I broke my marimba mallet, but it's okay, I wanted new ones anyways. I am planning on getting 4, and I am in the marching band, but I would also like to use them for concert as well, so I guess medium hardness would be best. Ideas?
Oh, and what handles are the best?
Birch? Fiberglass? Ect.
One level isn't going to be enough to use them for concert and marching band. You'd want hard ones for MB so that the sound carries as far as possible, but for concert you'd need varying levels for different pieces.
I played marimba in a high school drumline and used three different levels in a single show.
