how long does it take to master hammer ons?
and pull offs.how many hrs practice per day?(guitar )
It depends. You can do wonders by just doing 15 minutes.
BUT!
You can get inventive by not limiting yourself to holding the note with your index & hammering w/ your middle finger. Try exercising "index / ring finger" hammer ons as well as "Index / pinky finger" hammer ons. Want to really build some strength into those hammer on exercises??
When you exercise the index/ring finger duo on the thinnest string, say the index on the 5th fret, ring hammering onto the 7th, place your middle finger on the 3rd or 4th strings, 6th fret & hold it there while your ring attempts to hammer. It'll feel weird & your ring finger will feel weak but if you practice this for a minute or 2 & gradually build up the time you do this, your ring finger will get really strong! When practicing the index/pinky combo, place your ring finger on the 3rd or 4th string like you did w/ the 1st example. Again with time, & done slowly til it doesn't feel so awkward, you'll build strength & independence into your 2 weakest fingers.
Why would you want all 4 fingers strong? It'll add to the ease of being able to play a fast lick by simply hammering it onto the fretboard instead of picking it. Plus you can always strike the rock gawdess pose of playing that little speed riff with your fretting hand alone while holding your picking hand aloft over your head.
Whether you have the band shooting off bottle rockets in the background while you pose is optional.
