Can I use a an electric drill in garden soil?
I need to sink a bird feeder at least 12 inches into ground. It will only go down about 8 inches but it leaves it a bit shaky.
I do however have a long drill for masonery. Can I use this to drill a deeper hole, or is there a tool I can get on the market.
I have tried hammering it down but not good enough
Thanks in advance and I appreciate any help you can give me

Al (a mechanic) please note and dont be so silly. Read the question
Just to add that I do have to move the bird feeder from time to time as a lot of bird debris would accumulate making it unhygenic so there is no way I want to cement it in the ground. so anyone suggesting cement and concrete forget it !!
Dig a hole twelve inches deep, fill the bottom with concrete and sink your post in then, use braces to keep it plumb whilst the concrete dries. Once it's dried, take off the braces and fill the hole back in.
