Is a 50mm F/1.8 prime lens acceptable for wide angle weather photography use?
I have a Nikon D80 with the kit lens 18-55mm F/4.8 and the 55-200mm F/5.6 but I'd really like to get something faster for all around wide angle use but my passion is shooting time lapse storms especially around dusk. Is the 50mm prime good for that as well?
Like they said, 50mm isn't a wide angle lens for your D80. Here is a link to Nikon lenses, please note they start at 10.5 mm and go up to 35 mm. The smaller the number, the wider the angle.
