Hammer Drill Bit Masonry
How can I tell if my apartments walls are concrete or drywall?

I can drill into them with a standard screw pretty easily after hammering them just a bit to get them started. I'm assuming since I don't need a masonry bit these must be drywall but I want to be sure.

If you are getting a screw in that is not meant for concrete then they are definitely drywall. Concrete walls would simply strip your screws or burn them up if they are not rated for concrete. Also drywall has white powder that comes from the holes, while concrete dust is light gray. Most apartments tend to be drywall as well since it is cheap and easy to replace when someone puts a whole in it.
