would my ryobi 18v lithium ion battery fit in a makita power tool?
didn't think so, thanks for the help casey
No. With almost complete certainty, because most manufacturer's batteries only in their own tools, even though all the batteries for cordless power tools are made by 3 companies (Panasonic for Black & Decker/DeWalt, Makita, and others). The only tool a Ryobi battery might fit in is a Ridgid, because they are the same company, different divisions, but that still isn't guaranteed. There is a lot of fluidity in the power tool industry because of corporate takeovers, (Black & Decker bought DeWalt and Porter-Cable and then was purchased by Stanley Tool Works last year), and continued research into more powerful and lighter batteries that are much less harmful to the environment.
Sorry, you didn't ask for a history of the tool industry. No one makes a universal battery or tool that accepts other manufacturer's power sources. I wish I had better news for you, though.
