Worm Wheel Hobs
Basically, gear hobs have one essential role to play. The hobs are tools that are used in the cutting and shaping of the teeth found on gears. Gear hobs can be understood as special type of gear cutters used primarily for the purpose of cutting and shaping gears. The gear hob is the cutter used to cut the teeth into the work piece. It is cylindrical in shape with helical cutting teeth.
